 WHAT IS SMART LIPO?

Smart Lipo MPX is the technology of using laser energy to permanently destroy fat cells and then selectively removing the fat to shape and contour the body. This Smart Lipo procedure is minimally invasive and can be done in the physician’s office. It is the perfect method to sculpt out the body that you desire when dieting and exercise have not been able to produce the results that you seek.

WHAT IS MPX?

Smart Lipo MPX is the next generation of Laser Body Sculpting. This MPX laser is trademarked by Cynosure, the leader in aesthetic laser workstations. It is capable of emitting laser energy in two wavelengths: 1064 nm and 1320 nm. These wavelengths can be used independently or sequentially blended using Cynosure's proprietary Multiplex (MPX) technology to offer far superior outcomes. In the MPX mode, the laser first fires the 1064 nm wavelength to target the fat tissue, followed by the 1320 nm which targets water and hemoglobin to synergistically enhance the effect of the 1064 nm wavelength on fat. The MPX allows for greater tissue coagulation which results in greater tissue tightening. Smart Lipo MPX is a substantial upgrade from earlier models, operating at higher power and dual wavelength, 46 watt (rather than 12 watt, 18 watt, or 20 watt single wavelength). The unique blend of 2 wavelengths in the MPX also makes it a safer workstation for laser body sculpting as the 1320 nm wavelength generates a photoaccoustic effect that mitigates the photothermal effect of the 1064 nm wavelength for less trauma and decreased risk of subdermal burns. Furthermore, the MPX is equipped with ThermaGuide, a sensor to monitor directly the internal temperature of the subcutaneous fat layer, as compared to monitoring only the surface skin temperature. This is critical to the prevention of internal burns as temperature differences between the skin surface and internal subcutaneous fat may vary by as much as 10 degrees Celsius. Without doubt, Smart Lipo MPX is technologically more advanced than any other system for laser liposuction, and has a safety profile that is far superior and surpassed by none. AM I A CANDIDATE FOR SMART LIPO MPX?
Smart Lipo MPX  is a procedure that is meant to sculpt and contour and intended for areas of the body that have not responded well to diet and exercise. The ideal candidate is one that is in good health with a BMI less than 30. Unlike conventional liposuction, this is not a procedure to remove excessive amounts of fat. HOW DOES SMART LIPO MPX WORK?
We use the Cynosure Smart Lipo MPX laser that uses dual wavelenghts of light to obiterate fat cells and liquify fat. This is accomplished through the use of a small 1 mm probe containing the fiber which transduces light energy. Thus, the incisions are only a few milimeters and are barely noticeable once healed--no unsightly scars! At the same time, heat energy emitted by the Smart Lipo MPX laser causes the skin and soft tissues to shrink to produce natural skin tightening. The liquidfied fat and debris are removed through a small probe to selectively shape and contour the body. Smart Lipo MPX is a trademark of Cynosure. DOES SMART LIPO MPX HURT?
Because Smart Lipo is a minimally invasive procedure, only local anesthesia  is used during the procedure. It is infused with a small probe into the fatty tissues that will be treated.The local anesthetic will numb the pain, but does not take away all sensation. You may feel warmth, pressure, or tugging sensation, but no sharp pain.You will also be given oral medications prior to, as well as after, the procedure to help ease anxiety and for pain control. Most patients are very relaxed and experience only minor discomfort. Because general anesthesia is not used, you may be awake during the procedure, listening to your iPod, or conversing with the physicians and staff!

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME FOR SMART LIPO MPX?
The recovery time is minimal. Most patients feel sore for the first 24-48 hours, after which they may return to their regular work schedule. There is a medical grade compression garment that is to be worn to support and contour the area treated.You many resume exercise after 2 weeks. We recommend manual lymphatic massage to promote healing, but no deep tissue or vigorous massage for 2 weeks. Results may be noticed  within a week, with continued improvement over the next 4-6 months.
